A Man of his word

Ahead of His Time

When Pablo Malco got to South Florida in 1995, no one wanted to see or hear about his hip hop dance style. Many laughed at him, he recalls with a gritty chuckle, today.

They politely returned his resume to him with a smile “Hip hop is not real dance,” they said.

Well that is what happens when you try to bring hip-hop choreography to South Florida in 1995- an idea ahead of its time, much like Malco himself.

“Let me just say that every last one of those people, have called me back in the last 20 years, we have become friends!” admits New York born, Texas-educated, California-seasoned dancer, who decided anyway, to trailblaze into that hidden market, with his feet in the air!

Malco was also having an awakening, as he realized quickly, how big a business is the dance learning community; how popular, and how many people attended this sort of structured learning of dance.

His goal has been in 20 years, to bridge the gap between his edgy, unique style and this large community, interested in body movement of all type and also, today, media and technological arts; to blend movement and desire.
It has taken more than two decades of breaking stereotypes, trailblazing and staying afloat to become what he is today -a father, husband, and devoted entrepreneur. He has earned a reputation as a teacher and mentor who inspires youthful audiences within underserved communities, giving hope and exposure to hidden talent and curiosity within.

Pablo mentors and shares his unique, sensitive style with fellow teachers, choreographers and dancers.
“We bring something unique, in ourselves and our years of cumulated passion, and experience,” says Malco. “We know it, and you will know it too. It cannot be copied. I will leave it at that.”

What has been copied over the years, by many South Florida youth organizations and dance studios, is the final product, a performing and media arts caravan, called, Developing Dreams Foundation.
Pablo Malco’s eleven-year old foundation brings his one-of-a-kind advanced programming to YOU.

“I meet so many more kids this way,” says Malco, which ultimately is always his goal. To meet, inspire, play, affect, mentor and enhance lives, with as many underserved youth and communities as Broward County and beyond, will allow.
