Claudine Carter Pereira
Board Member
Claudine, known as the “Forensic Ballerina” is currently the Crime Lab Director at the Broward Sheriff’s Office. She has been fortunate to have the best of both worlds; a 20+ career in forensic science and yet still maintain a passion for the arts as a dancer and dance instructor.
Born and raised, in Freeport, Bahamas, where she began dancing at the age of three, she acquired a strong foundation and love for dance. From the age of nine through most of her teen years, she studied extensively at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York City in their Trainee Program. Claudine put her dance career on the “back-burner” to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Loyola College in Maryland and later a Master of Science Degree in Forensic Science from Virginia Commonwealth University. Despite her change in career path, she attributes many of her successes in life to lessons learned in ballet class. She shares this concept through her passion for the art of dance and has mentored many young dancers who have come to realize that they too can have the best of both worlds.

Anita D'Angelo
After-school Program Director
Anita has been an educator for over 30 years. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State University, she returned home and taught physical education and dance in the Philadelphia school system. While still teaching, she started taking dance classes again and that led to her dancing with two local companies. Her love of dancing won out over her teaching career, and she moved to NYC to follow her dream.
Having satisfied that career pursuit, Anita moved to South Florida to get her Master’s in Exercise Science at Florida Atlantic University. She went on to teach exercise science there for 20 years.
Currently, she is working on a venture, combining her dance and exercise science backgrounds, to teach people to move with balance and feel better.
